Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Precision CNC manufacturer of close-tolerance components

Home · Open Roles · Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Own the efficiency of a precision CNC operation — turning, milling, and multi-axis cells — and the process documentation that keeps it repeatable. This is a practitioner's seat, not a supervisory one: time studies, spindle utilization, tooling discipline, downtime reduction, and the structured improvement work between audit cycles. Best fit for an engineer who wants to grow the role outward into adjacent processes over time.

What you’ll own

  • Drive efficiency across CNC machine systems and standard components, with focused spindle-time optimization across turning, milling, and multi-axis cells
  • Run time studies, cycle-time analysis, and capacity modeling to identify improvement opportunities
  • Improve machine scheduling practice in SAP, and keep routing data accurate to real process times, sequences, and resource assignments
  • Own tool presetting, tool life management, and structured tool building; define and enforce setup standards
  • Analyze and reduce machine downtime; track and improve OEE
  • Partner with CNC programmers on CAM strategy improvements
  • Lead root cause analysis on scrap, rework, and non-conformances originating in machining
  • Develop and execute a structured improvement roadmap between audit cycles, and facilitate improvement workshops
  • Author and maintain factory standards, work instructions, bills of process, control plans, and process flow documentation across manufacturing
  • Maintain digital machine handbooks for production CNC equipment and establish structured filing practice for production documentation
  • Keep annual instruction plans current and compliant
  • Support welding process development and contribute to improvements in secondary operations

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • 3–8 years of progressive experience in a precision CNC machining environment, including hands-on turning, milling, and multi-axis machining of close-tolerance components in metals (stainless, brass, aluminum) and/or engineered plastics
  • Demonstrated machining process improvement experience
  • Direct experience with SAP production modules
  • Hands-on experience with tool management systems
  • CAD/CAM proficiency in Siemens NX, Mastercam, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with GD&T, precision measurement, and CMM-based inspection of machined components
  • Lean toolkit in practice: Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen facilitation, 5S/6S, Total Productive Maintenance, and SMED
  • Six Sigma methods: DMAIC, SPC and control charts, Design of Experiments, FMEA, and structured root cause analysis
  • Experience authoring factory standards, bills of process, control plans, and process documentation
  • Practitioner mindset with an independent, balanced perspective — takes ownership and is willing to learn adjacent processes and grow the role over time
