Family-owned global manufacturer of fluid control systems (valves, sensors and process measurement) serving pharma, biotech, food and beverage, and energy
Own the efficiency of a precision CNC machining operation (turning, milling and multi-axis cells) at a global manufacturer of valves, sensors and fluid control systems in Huntersville, NC. A practitioner's seat: spindle-time optimization, time studies and capacity modeling, tooling discipline, downtime reduction, and the process documentation that keeps it all repeatable. You also lead the site's manufacturing improvement program between audit cycles. Best fit for an engineer who wants to grow the role into adjacent processes over time.
What you’ll own
Drive spindle-time optimization across turning, milling and multi-axis machining cells
Run time studies, cycle-time analysis and capacity modeling to find improvement opportunities
Improve machine scheduling in SAP and keep SAP routings accurate for process times, sequences and resources
Manage tool presetting, tool life and structured tool building in the tool management system
Define and enforce setup standards, drive poka-yoke across setups and inspection, and reduce machine downtime
Partner with CNC programmers on CAM strategy improvements
Lead root cause analysis on scrap, rework and non-conformances from machining, working with Quality on inspection, gaging and SPC
Lead the site's manufacturing improvement program: roadmap between audits, improvement workshops and current training plans
Author and maintain factory standards, work instructions, BOPs, control plans and process flow documentation
Support welding process development, secondary operations (deburring, washing, inspection, surface treatment) and material-flow improvements
What we’re looking for
Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
3–8 years in a precision CNC machining environment: turning, milling and multi-axis work on close-tolerance metal and/or engineered-plastic components
Machining process improvement experience, including OEE measurement and analysis
Direct experience with SAP production modules and hands-on experience with tool management systems
CAD/CAM proficiency (Siemens NX, Mastercam or equivalent); Vericut simulation preferred
GD&T (ASME Y14.5), precision measurement and CMM-based inspection
Lean toolkit: Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S/6S, TPM and SMED
Problem-solving toolkit: DMAIC, SPC and control charts, DOE, FMEA and structured root cause analysis
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
Practitioner mindset, ownership and a willingness to learn adjacent processes
