A Mechanical Engineer to design systems and equipment for the design and construction of large-scale industrial plants and new-technology initiatives. Entry-level candidates will be considered; experienced applicants may act as mechanical discipline lead, providing technical support across projects. This is hands-on design work with real travel to fabrication shops and job sites.
What you’ll own
Perform mechanical designs and analyses through engineering calculations, with direction from a Senior Mechanical Engineer as needed
Sketch conceptual designs and transfer ideas to designers for development of mechanical drawings
Provide technical support to Aftermarket, Inspections, and Purchasing — reviewing vendor submittals and performing on-site equipment inspections
Analyze designed and vendor-supplied equipment for adherence to specifications, codes, standards, and project requirements
Check drawings and drafting for adherence to designs; suggest improvements to existing or proposed designs
Travel to fabrication workshops and job sites to analyze equipment, collect data, and perform on-site inspections
Write technical specifications for mechanical equipment design, fabrication, and procurement
Coordinate projects with outside engineering consultants and clients; propose equipment design improvements
What we’re looking for
B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Technology
Entry-level candidates considered; strong base of mechanical engineering fundamentals
Proficiency with Microsoft and Autodesk products; excellent technical writing and interpersonal skills
Ability to meet schedule and deliverable deadlines
Preferred: industrial plant experience; international travel; FEA/CFD/heat-transfer simulation; piping design and stress analysis; hydraulic, dust-collection, or fire-protection systems (NFPA)
Willing to travel 10–30% (domestic and international) based on project demands; able to move around and climb structures on a project site
