Manufacturing & Tooling Engineer

Precision metal manufacturer launching a new production line

Home · Open Roles · Manufacturing & Tooling Engineer

A hands-on manufacturing and tooling engineer to lead the development, installation, and optimization of a brand-new precision-metal production line — from concept through full production. This is a build-it-from-the-ground-up seat: tooling selection, process development, equipment commissioning, and continuous improvement, spanning CNC machining, laser and diamond cutting, automation, and production line start-up.

What you’ll own

  • Lead the planning, installation, and launch of a new manufacturing production line from concept through production
  • Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for precision metal components
  • Specify, source, and commission equipment — CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, laser cutting systems, diamond cutting equipment, and other precision machining technologies
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions that maximize efficiency and product quality
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, tooling, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve throughput
  • Create work instructions, process documentation, SOPs, and quality standards
  • Partner with production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain teams through equipment installation and production ramp-up
  • Analyze cycle times, scrap rates, and tooling wear to drive continuous-improvement initiatives
  • Evaluate new manufacturing technologies, tooling, and automation to improve productivity and reduce cost
  • Participate in capital equipment selection, vendor management, and factory/site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT)

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in precision machining or metal manufacturing environments
  • Experience launching new production lines or manufacturing facilities preferred
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, precision metal cutting, diamond cutting, laser cutting, turning, milling, grinding, and tooling design
  • Experience with fixture design, workholding, tooling optimization, and process validation
  • Knowledge of GD&T, machining tolerances, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous-improvement methodologies
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar); PLC/industrial automation familiarity a plus
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project-management skills; ISO 9001 experience preferred
