A first-shift, exempt engineering seat that bridges production and every support team — process engineering, maintenance, quality, and planning — on extrusion and kiln-firing lines. The work is data-first: pull and trend process data, find the assignable causes of defects and variation, and drive improvement projects through to the fix. The role also owns critical spares and consumables inventory, coordinates planned overhauls, and carries direct reports.
What you’ll own
Extract and analyze process data — SPC, process-monitoring, and operator control data — to build performance trend reports for every process in the department and select improvement projects
Identify assignable causes of defects and process variation; lead teams to reduce or eliminate the root cause
Coordinate line and area trials across production, performance control, process engineering, maintenance, engineering, and planning so every stakeholder knows the purpose and objective
Plan and coordinate overhaul events with affected plant areas, planning, and maintenance, and own the critical timelines
Manage critical inventories — heating elements, gearboxes, blades, finishing tools, magnetrons, kiln cars, and maintenance-specific parts — against usage and scheduled replacement
Enforce work instructions and key-point standards; help line advisors hold good operating conditions and set best conditions for new products and processes
Supervise direct reports and promote safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity in the department
Take part in preventive maintenance, operator-led maintenance, and 5S; follow environmental management (EMS) procedures
What we’re looking for
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of technical experience and engineering study
Able to read and interpret technical documents and write operation performance reports
Clear presenter who can field questions from peers and managers
Standard and metric math with fractions and decimals; able to analyze performance data and apply reaction plans and corrective action
Team player who can run multiple projects at once
Physical: regular standing, walking, bending, and stooping; lift up to 50 lb; 20/20 vision (natural or corrected)
Environment: loud production floor with moving machinery, heat and cold, humidity, and electrical hazards; safety shoes, goggles, gloves, and respirator as tasks require
Preferred: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SPC software, and Minitab
Preferred: inventory management systems and calculus-level math
Preferred: prior extrusion or kiln / firing-process experience
